A
team of NUI Galway Executive MBA students are
All-Ireland Champions after a historic win for the
University at the MBA Association of Ireland's
Inter-Business School MBA Strategy Challenge. The
competition saw teams from around Ireland
strategically analyse a Harvard Business Case and
present their findings to a judging panel chaired by
Prof Patrick McNamee of University of Ulster and
member of the MBA Association of Ireland.
The
NUI Galway Executive MBA Class of 2010, Executive MBA
Alumni, Executive MBA Programme Board, and NUI Galway University staff gathered at
the Connemara Coast Hotel in Furbo, Co. Galway
recently for an Alumni and Networking evening.
Dr
Ann Torres, a Lecturer at the J.E. Cairnes School of
Business & Economics, NUI Galway has recently completed
several Executive Education programmes at the internationally acclaimed
Programme on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. This certification
ensures Dr Torres is one of the leading negotiation
experts and trainers in the country. Speaking about
her experience, Dr Torres comments that “the learning
environment at Harvard was excellent enabling me to
learn from the leading world experts in the business
negotiation field”. MBA students at NUI Galway can
choose Business Negotiations in the second year of
the programme which will be led by Dr Torres.

In
a unique collaboration, the graduating Executive MBA
class together with their lecturer Mike Moroney have
completed a pro bono strategic study of the Alan Kerins Projects charity (AKP). The study was
presented to Alan Kerins and the entire Board of AKP
at a recent function in NUI Galway.
Following
a comprehensive programmatic and curriculum review
the Executive MBA at the J.E. Cairnes School of
Business & Economics has been updated and relaunched
to ensure it remains industry-led, globally focused
and entirely relevant to today’s challenging economic
climate.
